Autumn prelude
This 10 layered reduction linocut was created especially for the ‘Heartlands’ exhibition at Watts Gallery. The exhibition brought together work by eight Surrey-based artists to celebrate the county’s treasured landscapes.
Autumn prelude is based on one of my favourite Box hill walks that I frequently explore with the family and the dog throughout the year. Although early Autumn is perhaps my favourite time to view this spot, just as the foliage starts to change colour and the days are bright and mild. Whilst this print is a reduction linocut, the foreground layer was created using an additional block, in the hope that it would create a greater sense of depth and perspective in the piece.
